In the northern Italian region of Lombardy more people arrive at hospitals than the day before, They arrive barely able to breathe. More than 1000 are dead literally drowning with water in the lungs. Know the enemy and at least you 'feel' like you have a chance. One expert said "it's unstoppable, it's like thinking you can stop the wind, could you go outside and stop the wind from blowing"?? 60-80% of the WORLDS POPULATION are expected to contract it.

One thing that we learned early on is you have to close borders to other than citizens and residents. Its why the rest of Europe will end up like Italy. Its why Australia has less than 150 cases after 2 months including a no exceptions quarantine policy of 14 days for anyone who was near a contagious person. I live in Milan, Lombardy, Italy. Don't pay much attention to those two numbers: deaths and affected by virus. In the first number there are lots of old and sick people who die WITH the virus, not FOR the virus. So it's overestimated, and the second is clearly underestimated, because here now they do tests only to people with synmptoms. The only actual number is the number of people (also young and healthy) that go to the hospitals and aren't able to breath. Now they can survive only because we have I think 8.000 oxhygen machines, and they need very long treatments with those machines. But the number of machines is limited. So after a certain point the whole healthcare system will collapse and all those people will die. Furthermore in the whole world there are only 4 companies that produce those machines: 2 in Germany, 1 in Switzerland, 1 in Italy. So here we are "lucky": our government sent militarys to work 24h a day in this factory in order to increase as much as possible the production, which is now only reserved to our own country. In this way they are doing miracles, and the more people are ricoverd in a day, the more machines are delivered dayly to the hospitals. But in other countries, like UK, you don't have enough machines for a large scale epidemic, and it will be almost impossible to order them from abroad later. So it's better if you prepare in time in order to reduce the virus spread's speed!

Self isolating for only 7 days is dangerous. It gives the sick person or their employer the erroneous impression that they have fulfilled their responsibilities by taking that period off and are safe to return. If it is just the flu, that is fine. However, if it is the coronavirus, it is not enough. And there is evidence that even when symptoms have gone, the virus is still shedding and potentially contagious for a week or more.

Only 7 days...come on we know its contagious far longer than that. Anecdotally, yesterday a co-worker was hacking and coughing for several hours in the morning before another supervisor forced him to go to the local clinic. He reported back a few hours later that the clinic diagnosed him with an upper respiratory tract infection and he was cleared to return to work in the morning. They did not test him for corona. Today he showed back up with a mask on. His supervisor (different than the one who sent him to the clinic) was confronted about it and his response was "He's cleared for work, I'm keeping him here". It was run up the chain and thank goodness our higher ups aren't as naive and well informed and got him out of there. I have people that work for me in the same space that have unrelated health problems, so the exposure concerns me. It's awful to think this is happening across the nation.

I am in China and the below comments for you! 1: Surgical masks The virus is very contagious. In China's medial, there was a report that people get infected just 15 seconds next to each other in the super market without masks, similar stories talked about the infection within a minute inside a lift which is very popular in China's media and inside the bus where the person got the virus 4.5 meters behind an incubating person without symptoms.. In the UK media it said people are highly infected if the healthy person is next to the sick person in 15 minutes time. In the recommendations from CDC China, it classified different situations in terms of risks and recommend people the using of face masks, such in the super market, inside the cabin, tube and trains, etc. I watched Good morning Britain this morning. The UK health secretary said the same to the public and not recommending wearing THE FACE MASK unless the person is not sick. • This is not logical from my point of view. We know that 50% of the patient are without any fever even when they are even accepted to the hospital (pls. refer to the attached medical journal published in the New England medical journal https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2002032). • 43.8% on admission , David: it means another 50% are without fever on admission • 88.7% during hospitalization) • cough (67.8%). • Diarrhea was uncommon (3.8%) • The virus is very contagious but less contagious by the time when the patient has the fever. • Now when we start to have people in the incubation period who are not even aware that they are sick and wear the masks to prevent others being infected. It will infect more around them, right? It is always better to proactively protect with a facemask rather than being protected by people in incubation period. • There is a report today from Singapore where virus can be found inside the room of sick person of various degree. I fully understand the hygiene of hand wash however I feel that face mask is also essential in protection and stop the spread of the virus. UK will pay a high social price if we do not encourage people wearing masks in terms of economy and people’s life. By the time she was taken to hospital she holds a photo of her parents on her hand. She was only 3 years old and the God had made her so early to understand such a tragedy. Unfortunate, it was too late for her to be accepted to the ICU and she passed away in the end. All medical staff could not hold their tears and bowed to the little girl around her bed upon her death. We wish these she could reunite with her parents without any horror in the Heaven. 3 School closure and ban public gathering The UK so quickly entered into the delay phase and I envisage that the early to close the school and start virtual lessons on line the better. In China, all students are studying the online courses as of now still. I am worried if my child brings the virus back home as well. 4: Early treatment Even thought we know that 83% of patients are with mild symptoms. However pls. bear in mind that in China a lot of people start mild but developed into sever conditions and some people recovered as a result of natural defense system. It is very costly to treat a sever patient and we need a room with negative pressurized room. The medical staff will change their protection clothing a few times a day. Due to the initial phase when there was shortage of the protection clothing, Chinese doctors and nurses wear a set of clothing without eating and drinking for 12 hours in a day, wearing diapers without going to toilet. You can imagine how difficult the situation at the peak of the outbreak. News exchanged in the media that some people suddenly fell down to the ground for the lack of oxygen supplies due to illness. In my area of S Central TX, unless a person requires ICU and has known Covid contacts, they will not be tested. This means people with a dry cough, fever, and fatigue will be sent home to spread to friends, and so on. If they have severe bronchitis but no known contacts, they may get an X-Ray, not always conclusive, and go home with antibiotics. No contact tracing will be done except possibly with positive Covid testing. It's CDC and the Pres saying let it rip, everyone will be exposed, too late for containment, don't bother to slow the spread down. They will focus, as always, on helping with finances and the logistics of keeping businesses alive. Let's see, kill off the old and the sick, contain people inside their borders, make cash contagious. What's the next hammer, do you think? To me, it feels like there"s more to come, not sure what, maybe geo-political.

Everyone, try to stay positive and as calm as possible, why? Because you need a strong mindset and that should have already started. Everything now will be about your immune system, and whilst thats working to fight the virus, your mind takes over and tries as best to help the body stay rested and calm. Panic will not help you at all. I am a data scientist of 20 years and work in healthcare, I can't stress enough the data I see from not just the 'fit' in regards to health, but also 'fit' in regards to mind. So if you get sick then dont go to the hospital... got it? Sure it may be a test for the political parties, but also for the families who may have to stay home with there kids, unless they have an older sibling to take care of them. Have to worry about food/water/personal and medical supplies and then worry about the bills. At this point I'd say the concern should be about minimizing any public activity regardless of who feels sick or not. Whats missing a couple weeks of school or being late on that rent payment compared to a single life or more it can save. Not sure about other countries, but here in the US we have the state national guard to distribute supplies to people that need it. Well thats just one small contribution to curtailing the spread.

We have 14 cases( a stupid family of three from Italy exited airport with false self declaration not mentioning Italy avoided screening) had a marathon run in town infecting 11 others in Kerala ( a small state in India) & all our schools, collages are closed for this month and gov stopped all mass gathering like festivals, marriages, house warming ceremonies with immediate effect and efficient tracking is on and found out 3000 people with primary and secondary contacts and everyone is kept on 28 days quarantine in homes and hospitals on account of serious symptoms showed. UK uneducate urself to learn something.. 🙄

Unless Europe starts to build hospitals like China, the fact is there aren't enough hospital beds to treat and quarantine everyone. The gorvenrment can not tell this directly to citizens otherwise it will cause panic. The government can only do the best it can. Now its time for people to get united and support gorvenrment and each other. That's sadly the only plan. The hospital resource shortage situation is not unique to the UK, it is same for every country apart from China. Just stay positive and support the country. And Paying the bills is not a big issue in front of death.
